Our Halls Creek saga continues.
A breakout but not by us - only our ute. Stolen 11:00 ish last night from the hospital compound and driven straight through the locked gates as you can see.
Security at the hospital heard the bang and alerted us. We woke up in time to hear the sirens of the cops in hot pursuit as it headed towards Fitzroy Crossing only 300 km down the road.
Not sure if I had stupidly left the keys in it or they were nicked from the house while Ruth and I were having our bit of exercise walking around the compound. Either way the damage done.
The police assure us that the Halls Creek lads usually abandon cars in the bush and don’t burn them and there is a good chance that they will find it. If it gets to the Fitzroy Crossing crowd it is another matter. They did say that if they stop it they will use tyre spikes and we would be up for new tyres.
So we do some more waiting and filling in of forms.
Our mates Andree and Andrew will probably come down from the Gibb to pick us up possibly with Jamie’s trailer. We can then regroup in Kununurra jettison some of our gear and carry on with them.
I tried to get out today as my isolation is nominally up but the Hospital don’t want me out unless I have been isolating from Ruth. Fair enough I guess as we are their guests. Errands will have to wait. Monday is the day to get away.
Character building stuff. Last trip to The Kimberley for you Patrick. It always ends in tears!
